A global update on Pleasant Green

Hello, and a belated Happy New Year from us here at the Pleasant Green Blog.

We've taken the first few weeks of 2025 to sit down, take stock and figure out what we want to bring to the site over the next twelve months.

First up, we think there's going to be some new audio. Kennedy and I have been working on a mini-series about Aleister Crowley and we think, with a little crowdfunding assistance, that we could put together a short series about Crowley's life. That would not only give us the space to explore the life of a quite extraordinary (if less than wholesome) historical figure, the kind of space that we can never find to talk about him within other stories, but would also provide some much needed context for how he fits into some of our investigations to date.

Speaking of Kennedy, she is finally coming to the end of the Saltmarsh Storyline. Chapter 9 should be posted in the next few days and the last part will be coming hot on its heels. Not having been around for this story when it happened, I have been deliberately not getting ahead, and am only becoming apprised of events as I'm helping her to proof the chapters. I get the impression that, even when the story as it happened is told, there will be a lot to go over and a lot of threads to continue unravelling.

One of those threads, tangentially, regards a story we want to bring to you in some format in 2025. The working title for this one is "Kleik", which is Dutch for "cabal". Another translation, which Kennedy favoured, would be "Geheim genootschap", which I vetoed on the basis that neither of us can reliably pronounce it. In some ways, this story is going to tie a lot of previous events together in a slightly new way. It's early days, and we're trying to figure out the best medium in which to work. This one might turn out to be a mixed media affair; some online prose, some audio, maybe even some video.

And we obviously haven't forgotten about documenting our investigation that led off from the end of "The Haunter of the Dark". That is just about concluded now, but there's a lot of material to sift through and make sense of, and it's going to require quite an investment of time and money to realise. But watch this space for updates.

As you know, everything we do here is made possible by donations and subscriptions so if you can spare a little bit of money each month to keep us going, please consider taking out a subscription.

In the meantime, we hope you had a good break, and a positive start to the year (despite global events). We're really looking forward to the work ahead in 2025.

Matthew and Kennedy.
